surrounded by a huge porch for external security. The pillars are very well carved. The carved pillars are 135 feet wide and 55 feet high. The main gate of the temple which is called Mayur Dwar is the main attraction of the temple. The peacock gate is carefully decorated with 236 sculptures, including peacocks, elephants, monks and devotees carving marble.

The construction of the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in New Jersey, started in 2010 under the supervision of President Swami Maharaj, is an amazing story. The Akshardham Temple, built in Robinsville, New Jersey, USA, is spread over 162 acres. Due to which this temple is considered to be the largest temple in the world. About 13,199 stones were sent from India to build this temple. This temple is huge and is considered to be the most beautiful temple in the world. 134 feet long and 87 feet wide, the temple has 108 pillars and 3 sanctuaries. According to the architecture, 68 thousand cubic feet of Italian marble has been used for the construction of this temple. Artists from India were invited for the carving of this temple so that an Indian glimpse could be seen in this temple.
How this temple was built
Swami, the President of BAPS, came up with the idea of constructing this magnificent temple in Robinsville, New Jersey, USA in the year 1997. Construction of the temple began in 2010 and was opened to devotees in August 2014. Italian marbles were sent to Rajasthan from European queries. Where about 2000 artisans tried their hand at making art on these stones. The stones were then shipped to New Jersey in the United States. The stones here were numbered so that they could be placed properly in space.
The temple includes a grand prayer hall which is large enough to accommodate 1000 people at a time. The first phase of the temple complex includes an activity center for youth, a rest house for visitors and a food court. The beautification of the temple and its surroundings is influenced by the rich blend of architectural styles of South and North Indian temples. .
The main building of the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple, located in Robinsville, New Jersey, is a 4-story structure. A permanent exhibition dedicated to India's heritage, history and culture can be seen here. The stories of Ramayana, Mahabharata and ancient scriptures are displayed on the decorated pillars, panels, walls and ceilings. Life-size statues of spiritual leaders and monks of the Indian Hindu community have been erected in the halls.
President Swamy's world record
There is a Guinness Book of World Records in the name of Param Pujya Shri Pramukh Swami Maharaj. This record is for building the most temples by any one person. Swami Bapa built 713 temples on five continents from April 1971 to November 2007 which is a unique record in the world.
President Swami Maharaj spread the Swaminarayan sect all over the world. He built Swaminarayan temples in the country and abroad, most of which are also tourist attractions. The Akshardham temple in Delhi and Gandhinagar is the best example of this. At that time, President Swami also made the BAPS organization famous in the country and abroad, that is why the BAPS organization has got many achievements.
